Get Schooled this Fall
The leaves are falling, there’s a surge in Pumpkin Spice Lattes at your local Starbucks and you’re feeling motivated to get back into the marketing swing. So what are you to do about getting inspired for the season ahead? As it just so happens we did some nerding out (who, us?) and made our quick list of the top books to dive into this season:
1. The Art of Social Media by Guy Kawasaki
In this read, the author takes us back to the beginning, and hey, sometimes that can be good. Nowadays, everyone tends to think of themselves as a social media maven, guru, expert, and the list of ridiculous goes on, but Kawasaki breaks it down by asking the reader to assess whether or not they’ve fully capitalized on their reach and influence capabilities. Definitely not for the advanced marketer, but consider this one easy to digest and a quick way to do a health check on your online ROI, analytics tools and marketing tactics.
2. #AskGaryVee: One Entrepreneur’s Take on Leadership, Social Media and Self-Awareness by Gary Vaynerchuk
You had to see this one coming. We love the serial entrepreneurialism and social media smarts of GV, and if you haven’t added this to your collection already, get on it. Gain valuable insight and advice on all the above-mentioned topics from one of the most prolific men in the business. Inspired by his podcast, #AskGaryVee, he delivers answers to all those head-scratching questions you’ve been asking yourself and more. Get inspired to “crush it,” and go forth and conquer.
3. The #1 Thing You Should Be Doing on Facebook EVERY Day by Kim Garst
Kim Garst of Boom Social is a maverick on social marketing and has some truly fantastic books on the subject. In this latest breakdown of Facebook, she discusses the fact that the algorithm has changed yet again to focus on video. Quoting Mark Zuckerberg from the last F8 Summit, “we are at the beginning of the golden age of video” – and with 100 million videos viewed every day on Facebook, it’s a compelling case to brush up on this platform.
Happy reading and consuming of all things pumpkin-spiced!
