CANADA JOB GRANTS
Get funded, get skilled, get ahead.

Our programs qualify for the federal and provincially-funded Canada Job Grant program – a funding initiative where employers and government share the cost of employee training and skills development.

 
 

The amount of funding available varies across qualifying Social School programs, and whether the trainee is a new or existing employee.

‘Existing Employees’ are defined as current full-time employees, and ‘New Employees’ are those who’ve been employed for four weeks or less, and were not full-time employed elsewhere for 30 days or more prior to being hired.

ELIGIBILITY

Eligible employers

  • All private sector and non-profit employers in Alberta

  • First Nations and Métis Settlements in Alberta

  • Some Crown agencies in communities with a population of less than 100,000

Eligible trainees

  • New or existing employees that will fill current or future job vacancies

  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) entitled to work in Canada who are currently residing in Alberta

What is the Canada Job Grant and how does it work?

The Canada Job Grant is part of the Government of Canada’s commitment to help ensure employees are being trained in high-demand areas. In this case, that means timely social media, digital marketing and public relations skills that are imperative to the success of today’s businesses big and small.

How does the Canada Job Grant program benefit businesses?

By supporting and investing in the training of employee training and growth, the program is designed to help employers across Canada increase productivity, skills and retention.

What is the grant amount?

For existing employees, employers are required to cover a minimum of one-third of direct training costs. In select provinces, employers may be eligible for 100% coverage of training costs when creating a new role and hiring a new full-time employee. Funds are available to an annual maximum of $10,000 per trainee and $300,000 per organization.

Flexible financing options to suit your needs

All Social School On Campus and Guided Online Certificate programs can be financed through a payment plan.

These include:

  • Social Media Marketing Certificate (On Campus, Guided Online)

  • Digital Marketing Certificate (On Campus, Guided Online)

  • Website Launch Lab (On Campus)

  • Social Strategy Retreat (On Campus)

As long as your registration is completed far enough in advance of the program start date (minimum 20 days), financing options are available, allowing you to choose one lump sum payment at checkout, or a series of equal payment instalments.

First, outline the important details

  • Name of the event or program

  • Event or program dates and duration (Note: if you’re leaning towards an online course or certificate program, it’s worth pointing out that this will not involve time out of the office)

  • Costs to be incurred (event registration fees as well as travel expenses and indirect costs)

  • An online link or downloadable program guide providing additional information

  • A detailed explanation of the certification at hand and the specific, actionable skills you’ll be learning

Second, outline how your organization will benefit from your newly acquired skills

  • Will it allow you to bring more of your organization’s needs in-house and cut down on outsourcing costs?

  • Will it grow your organization’s visibility, customer base, return on ad spend and overall sales?
