The following describes the general operations, returns, privacy and disclosure policies for The Social School Inc., its parent website (https://socialschool.io), and all associated properties (https://grow.socialschool.io, https://community.socialschool.io, https://marketplace.socialschool.io, https://affiliates.socialschool.io and https://help.socialschool.io).
We are deeply committed to providing the utmost convenience, security and peace of mind to Social School students and clientele when purchasing or paying for our services, both in person and online.
Our payment terms and policies are as follows:
Payment Gateway: We utilize the reputable, secure and PCI Compliant services of Authorize.net, owned by VISA, as the gateway between our website shopping cart and our payment processor.
Payment Processor: We utilize the reputable, secure and PCI Compliant services of Calgary, AB-based Helcim to process all credit card payments made in person and online.
Data Storage: We do not, and nor do our payment service providers listed above, store, share, or have access to your credit card data at any point during or after your transaction with Social School, either online or in person.
Accepted payment types: We are grateful for your business, honoured to work with you, and happy to accept payment via credit card (VISA, Mastercard, American Express and Discover), secure e-transfer or cheque.
We make every effort to ensure Social School students and clientele are deeply satisfied with their decision to work with us and the products and services we provide. We do, however, understand that occasionally the need for an event ticket refund or course purchase cancellation arises.
Our refund policy is as follows:
Live events, conferences, classes, retreats, workshops and webinars (online and on campus): Refund requests received within 60 days of purchase will be honoured, with refunds issued via the original payment method or credit card. Refund requests made 60 days or more from the time of purchase are eligible for:
CREDIT: This may be applied to future or alternative Social School courses and programs, and must be used within 12 months from original date of purchase.
TRANSFER: Transfer requests will be honoured and all registration and participant records adjusted.
REFUND: Refunds will be honoured for the full price paid plus tax – less a 20% admin fee.
Refund or transfer requests received within 30 days of the event are not eligible for reimbursement. Within this 30-day window, we have accounted for staffing needs, printed your name badge, created, mailed or delivered your program materials, reserved your limited seat and turned away other potential students and customers. Unlike many live conferences, events and training programs where all sales are final, we work our hardest to accommodate you within reasonable grounds, and our 30-day policy aims to support our valued clientele to our utmost capabilities.
Custom workshops, speaking presentations, keynote sessions and tailored corporate events or programs: Refund and/or cancellation requests received 45 or more days in advance of their planned date will be honoured. Within the 45-day event window, we have begun strategizing your deliverables, developing the custom content and materials, secured staffing requirements, equipment and travel arrangements, and turned away other students and customers, and are thus unable to offer a refund.
Self-Guided Online courses and certificate programs: As our self-guided online courses and certificate programs are immediately made available to you within your custom course dashboard in their entirety upon purchase, thus granting you full access to all course videos, downloads, appendices and proprietary course materials that we have spent extensive time and expertise building and refining, we are unable to offer a refund. These courses are available for you to access for a full 12 months from time of purchase, and we are very happy to offer our support as you move through them, either by email, phone or our social channels.
Guided Online certificate programs: As our Guided Online programs feature a set start date, where course content is delivered in a ‘drip’ fashion on specific dates rather than all at once as with our self-guided online courses and programs, refund requests received 30 or more days in advance of the program start date will be honoured. Within the 30-day window, we have prepared your customized course correspondence and support, reserved your limited place in the program and turned away other potential students and customers, and thus, are unable to offer a refund.

We make every effort to ensure that our live Social School events, including our cross-Canada conferences, workshops, retreats and custom programs, are of the highest possible quality, featuring the most timely subject matter, course materials, speakers and special guests.
Our live events policy is as follows:
While we make every effort not to adjust live event programming once ticket sales have begun, Social School reserves the right to change, cancel or reschedule any portion or element of an event, including dates, speakers, agenda, session content, venue and other event logistics, at any time, without notice, up to 7 days prior to the live event commencement. While rare, such occurrences can be a result of logistical conflicts, speaker cancellations, venue issues and other such unfortunate realities.
In the unlikely occurrence that a live event must be cancelled due to circumstances both within or beyond our control, Social School will endeavour to reschedule it as soon as possible with a full and immediate refund made available to attendees in the interim. Social School cannot, however, be held responsible for any costs incurred by the attendee beyond what is collected as the registration fee for the live event, including any travel, accommodations or other arrangements made.
Generally, seating at live Social School events is limited and offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, unless otherwise noted. If special accommodations (such as accessibility) are required, please email us at hello @ socialschool.io prior to your purchase. We will make every effort to accommodate all needs and requests, both in advance and onsite.
Live event passes and tickets are non-transferable unless a special request of transfer has been made and approved by emailing us at hello @ socialschool.io, only applicable up to 14 days before the live event. Within that window, we will do our utmost to accommodate name changes and email correspondence, and we appreciate your understanding.
Special promotions cannot be combined with any other offers, discounts or promotions, or those used on previous purchases. Other restrictions may apply.
Guest speakers are generally on hand for the duration of a live event, although some are only available for a portion thereof. Occasionally a speaker’s schedule may change due to other obligations or unforeseen circumstances. We cannot control or guarantee how accessible or present a guest speaker may be at any live Social School event, beyond their scheduled stage time.
We cannot be held responsible for any loss, injury or damage to any property or persons at any live Social School event, whatever the cause may be.

Information Collection, Use and Sharing
Social School is the sole owner of the information collected on this website (https://socialschool.io), as well as our membership site (https://members.socialschool.io). We only have access to information that you voluntarily give us via email, browsing our website or other direct contact we may have together. We will never, under any circumstance, sell or rent this information to anyone.
Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email (if you have explicitly opted into our email list) or by targeted promotions (i.e. paid advertisements) to tell you about Social School events, products and services, or changes to these policies.
Image Consent Policy
By participating in and/or attending any live Social School event, class, workshop or conference, we assume you to have provided consent for your image and/or voice to be collected, used and reproduced by Social School, its suppliers, sponsors and students who may be posting to social media or other digital and physical platforms live onsite or upon completion of the event.
By entering the event premises, you release Social School and all persons, partners, speakers and attendees involved in the event from any liability connected with the taking, recording, digitizing or publication and use of interviews, photographs, video and/or audio footage.
Further, you waive all rights to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with the publication of these materials, regardless of the purpose and irrespective of whether a fee for admission or sponsorship has been paid, as well as the right to inspect or approve any photo, video, or audio recording taken by Social School or its partners, suppliers, students or event attendees prior to its publication.
If you do not wish to be recorded via photography, video or audio footage at the event, please email hello @ socialschool.io in advance, or let our registration staff know upon arrival so that we can accommodate your request. If you have any questions or concerns about the collection, use or reproduction of these records by Social School, please contact hello @ socialschool.io.
Your Access to and Control Over Information
You may opt out of any future contact from us at any time. You can do the following by contacting us via the email address hello @ socialschool.io, or (800) 825-0356. You may also, at any time, request access to and/or execute the following:

We take exceptional precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via our website, it is protected both online and offline. We also take great caution to protect your email address and will never share it with any third-party site or organization.

Steering our community of students, followers and friends into the right software, hardware, tools, apps and programs for their needs is something we take quite seriously, and we are committed to promoting only the solutions we ourselves have tried, tested, and wholeheartedly believe in.
In fact, we've been using, teaching and talking about many of the programs in our Tool Shop – like Canva, Infusionsoft, Facebook Business Suite, Planoly, Squarespace and Shopify – for close to a decade, without a dollar of kickback or compensation.
As we've evolved our business and formalized our relationships with these incredible companies over the years, we do now receive referral compensation for some of the tools we promote. However, we are also able to work with many of these brands to pass along exclusive incentives to our Social School community. And never, ever would we recommend a product that increased its price in order for us to receive a commission.
